What size opening does the Liberty Extra Tall and Wide Gate fit?

The Liberty gate fits openings from 99–107 cm (39–42 in) and stands 93 cm (36.5 in) tall. Its wider frame suits larger doorways and hallways, while the extra height offers a taller barrier. Measure your opening before purchase to determine whether extensions are needed.

Can I add extensions to the Liberty gate?

Yes. The gate can accommodate up to two compatible Liberty extra-tall extensions, sold separately, with one fitted on each side. Options include 9 cm (3.5 in), 18 cm (7 in) and 27 cm (10.5 in). Measure your opening to choose the appropriate combination and follow the included installation instructions.

Can I keep the gate open when I need unrestricted access?

Yes. The Smart Stay-Open feature holds the gate open when a barrier is not needed, making repeated trips between rooms more convenient. The gate also offers one-handed operation for adults. Close it and check that the locking mechanism is engaged whenever you need to restrict access.

Can the gate be used at the top or bottom of stairs?

Yes, provided it is installed according to the included stair instructions. At the top, position the gate on the landing 5 cm (2 in) back from the top step, never below the top level. Secure the mounting cups with screws and use the one-way stopper to prevent the gate opening towards the stairs. At the bottom, position it at the front of the lowest possible step.

Can I use the gate to separate pets from parts of the home?

Yes. The tall metal gate can help restrict pets’ access to selected rooms or hallways. Suitability depends on your pet’s size and behaviour, including whether they can pass through the bars, jump over or dislodge the gate. Regularly check that the gate and its fittings remain secure.
